Beast Mastery is only really needed if you plan to use your pet a lot. I'm currently having an experiment with this, to see if the pet skills are any use, as just the pet attacking with its base attacks helps a hell of a lot

I'd be interested to know the outcome of this test.
Something else, are you implying that increasing beast mastery doesn't improve your pets normal attack? I was under the impression that it did, but if I'm wrong (which is more than likely, lol), I'd love to put those attribute points some place else.

Yeah,
that what I was going for as well, cause I love my little pet.
Do you know if the pet gains special skills as well later on? Like the maiming attack of the bears, for example.

Ok,
this is what I got:
fighting the same 2 monsters with Beast Mastery 3, took the pet about 40 secs per monster to solo it.
With Beast Mastery on 5, the Comfort Animal skill got quite a nice boost and the same 2 monsters took about 30 seconds to solo.
Overall, there seems to be a small improvement, but it's hard to say without seeing the damage points dealt by the pet.

Hmm, hard to say, that could be just cause of a few lucky blows the second time. Would be nice if someone knew the answer for certain. Thanks for looking into it tho.

The Beastmastery attribute can also be used just for the Tiger's Fury skill

i really think beast mastery is a great asset for ranger.
if u love pets like i do, then ull use beast mastery like me.
also, ive heard people talk about this sort a thing, an most of them say that pets are really useful because they can take a load of dmg (good for tanking) an many people say that their pets help them alot to kill monsters an enemies.
so id say: if ur a pet lover like me but dont know if to go with beast mastery.....id say aim "GO FOR IT".

My pet has saved me a few times when the rest of my party has died. Sometimes against an enemy I can keep myself alive (being monk secondary), but not do damage on account of having to heal constantly, but my pet can knock away at the enemy while I just tank. And then resurrect my fallen comrades and we're back in business. Very useful.
